LeVar Burton - 2009

LeVar Burton on July 13th 2009 - was involved in a five-car crash, but he apparently he didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

LeVar also contributed in one way or another, in all four of the TNG films. Counting the most recent, "Star Trek Nemesis."

Police Detective Judy Acosta of the Los Angeles Police Department, says that Burton's 2006 Mercedes was on the Beverly Boulevard in the West part of Los Angeles at approximately 7:40 p.m. when suddenly a 74-year-old woman, who was in a 2006 Scion turned left just in front of him.

Detective Acosta declared that the cars crashed. LeVar Burton's car, subsequently then hit a parked car - thus leading into a sequence reaction that damaged the two other parked cars.

According to Detective Acosta - both drivers declared that they feel pain, just when they were examined at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. An interesting thing is, that nobody was ticketed.

Joerg Haider

Vienna, Austria - An Austrian politician named Joerg Haider, who was deep into the right-hand political aspect, and whose expression sometimes cast a negative impression on the Alpine republic, passed away in a car accident early Saturday on October 2008.

Carinthian region police representative, Friedrich Hrast stated, that the accident took place in the south of the country when Haider's car swished off the road close to the city of Klagenfurt and overturned – all this while trying to overtake another car in the process. He also stated that Haider suffered brutal injuries to his cranium and thorax, and thus was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Haider was by himself in the car, at the very time of the accident.

Haider, who was 58 - a governor of the county of Carinthia and also a head of the far-right “Alliance for the Future of Austria”.

 

James Dean - 1955

James Dean died on the 30th of September 1955 – in his new Porsche Spyder. James Dean starred in 3 films, which were: East of Eden (Release date in USA: 1955) Rebel Without a Cause (Release date in USA: 1955) and Giant (Release date in USA: 1956). Also, he starred in numerous TV-Shows.  James Dean died at the age of 24, and a movie which definitely created a reputation of him as a troubled stereotypical high school rebel - Jim Stark. This fact appealed to the teenagers of those times. Even though his death was a long time ago, he clearly became an icon for the millions of fans and generally in the pop culture. Furthermore, the fact that he perished in a high-speed car accident, only contributes to the dramatic James Dean icon chronicle.

 

James dean, was of course not only an actor, he also took up competitive race car driving. In the process of filming his second movie (Rebel Without a Cause), he obtained one of the 90 “Porsche 550 Spyder” ever made. It had a numerical marking; 130. It also had two red stripes at the back, and was equpiied with a tartan seat design. This car was called “Little Bastard”.
