Causes of a Car Accident
Here are the ten worst sins that a driver can make.
These “Sins” are often fatal.
Excessive SPEED
If all drivers were guided by the ancient principle of festina lente (hurry slowly), in 2003, there would be more than 11 thousand fewer accidents in a Typical European Country. Fewer accidents, and 1650 people would still be alive.
AGGRESSION
Begins with unrefined insults and gestures to other drivers, and ends with the breaking of rules. Too aggressive driving, under the hill, taking a curve, without acknowledging the situation on the road. Jumping from lane to lane, is just one of the few examples.
This behaviour has many causes: someone else's error, unexpected traffic or even gestures from other drivers. Furthermore, young drivers as an example, will believe that aggression will bring them more attention and a general social acceptance.
High self-esteem
Polls say clearly: We, the drivers have a good opinion about our own abilities. However, the drivers, have a very bad opinion about each other.
Since we appreciate our own skills, we deny the possibility of causing an accident. We think that, even if it comes to a dangerous situation, our talents will allow us to get out of everything unscathed.
Alcohol
Although you do not need to convince anyone about the harmful effects of driving under influence, but everyday there are reports of people driving in this condition.
Police arrested an average of 19 drunk drivers / hour and apparently this number is still growing. In 2005, the police arrested 192,200 drunk drivers - how many of such potential murderers managed to escape the police control? That is a question we must all ask ourselves when driving.
Being stubborn
Drinking under influence is dangerous? These speed limits, are you kidding? Now way!
Unfortunately, this appalling scheme is pretty common. They do not understand the accident statistics, are deaf to the opinions of specialists, unreceptive to arguments. They believe that all this does not affect them. That they are above all of this. They do not want to accept responsibility for the accident, admit to error.
Ignoring RULES
Although the rules facilitate the safe movement from point A to point B, many drivers are disrespectful to them, if not having an contemptuous attitude as well.
FORCING Precedence
This as well goes under the category of ignoring and braking the rules. Remember, a pedestrian which is on a “zebra” has the priority.
Changing lane without a direction light
Is a typical reason, for car accidents. People need to know what you are about to do, so that everyone can be safe.
General Rules to follow when driving:
1. Drive carefully, and be responsible – so that you wont need to apologize for any mistakes which can take place.
2. Do not place other peoples lives in danger.
3. Have a lot of tolerance for other road participants.
4. Do not patronize others.
5. Do not try and prove anything to anyone.
6. Yield to others, even if the law is on your side. Do you prefer to be right, or do you prefer to have un-crashed car?
7. Respect the traffic regulations, not only from fear of punishment.
8. Always try and show others what you are about to do.
9. When sitting behind the wheel, predict others and think.
10. Always drive the vehicle as good as you can, but never to the border of your skills.
